Why do eyes have a particular colour? Interesting facts

At birth, babies’ eyes sometimes look blue because they are still producing melanin. The colour may then change.
The abundance of melanin in the eyes, skin and hair provides protection against UV rays. That is why brown-eyed people are more common among Africans and Asians than among Europeans. And in Iceland, there are very few people with brown eyes.
